    Left to Learn

    It was over yesterday
    it was over this morning
it’s been over every day this week.

    I went to the store
    I bought his favorite foods
so he’d stop eating away at my dreams.

    and I’m begging for quiet
    I'm pretending I'm peaceful
but I plead with the forces for one more fight.

    I’m aching for conflict
    I call for corrections
    I plead with the voices
    stop trampling, stop trampling,
    stop trampling my mind.
    It's my mind.

    I was waiting for him
    waiting for me
    neither of us came.

    Creating someone
    berating what’s done
    Can’t we share the blame?

    Breaking rivers
    stealing oceans
    scratching out the sky
    I took my turn
    my skin began to burn
the same thing left to learn
    same thing left to learn.

    I woke up yesterday
    I woke up this morning
I woke up every day this week.

    and I’m practicing patience
    calculating my wisdom
and I plead with the forces—no more fights.

    Breaking rivers
    stealing oceans
    scratching out the sky
    I take my turn
    my skin begins to burn
the same thing left to learn
    same thing left to learn.

    same thing left to learn
    same thing left to learn
    same thing left to learn.
