My famous "Die Trying" note is on this page-- which meant that I was promising to spend my life always investigating new ways of doing things—never settling into a routine. This download contains the chord sheets for "Staring at the Dark." The bonus sheet is from the vocal arrangement that I took into the vocal booth in the studio. You can see the different emotions I wanted to draw attention to with every verse, line, word. This page really moves me. It shows my intense attention to detail and my passion for voicing. The song is really simple, only two chords, so if you are a beginner, this is a great one to start with.

This download is the chord sheets for "Turn." If you look at the insider sheet, you can see that I almost called it "might" or "clouds." I wanted to title it after the most interesting word in the song, and eventually I realized that word was "Turn." This page is from the moment I first wrote the verses. I remember sitting on my couch and scrawling all of this on the page. This is one of the earliest documentations of my songwriting, truly from my raw heart.

This download has the chord sheets for "Sometimes" which literally began with my driving past a fire on the side of the Ventura freeway, just like the song says. The bonus sheet shows how I started color-coding my notes and vocal arrangements about halfway through the recording of the One Girl Town album. I don't know if that's a system I will continue to use, but I definitely like to find nerdy ways to organize myself (and drive everyone else crazy).

"We never talked about it again." This story is so personal. It is a dear moment in my life, a wonderful person who did something everyone decided was horrible—a scandalous "criminal kiss"—but I was glad he did it. It reflects on the depths of being alone, and the kindness of having one's soul recognized. This story was first performed at the 2020 "Love Fest" show.
"I unpacked my sweet little funeral dress..." This is a collection of 3 shorter stories in one chapbook. A tale told from under the body of a lover with a special tattoo. An old love asking me provoking questions. And my journey to a dingy dungeon of a hotel room which served as the home base for me to attend my mom's funeral. These three spoken word pieces are from the "Love Courage Yes: Live at the Underground Exchange" album—they embody the spirit of Love, Courage, and Yes.
"The drummer is supposed to be the most loyal, right?" This is a fun and playful —a lengthy one too! It is my musings on the heartbeat of the band, and of the soul. It was inspired by an incredible performance at the Ojai Music Festival by Stephen Schick, where he played an air-raid siren—and where the man sitting next to me stormed off in disgust. This will grip writers, music lovers, and musicians alike. It's a testimony to taking exactly what happens in your life and putting it on the page. You never know what you might discover.
